THIS WEEK SEPT 08-11 MEET KEONE MADRID Born and raised in San Diego, CA, Keone started his dancing career in the year of 2004 with a group of high school friends. He started his training with KJ Gonzales and Future Shock SD under the direction of Belle and Rainen Paguio. Then furthered on to train with the likes of Formality, Culture Shock San Diego, and various classes with industry choreographers. In the year of 2007 Keone was able to further his choreography passion, by winning a choreographers competition, "Maxt Out", with his friend Vinh Nguyen. He was also given the opportunity of teaching in places and dance teams up and down California, Washington DC, Canada, London, and Norway. Not to mention several workshops such as Culture Shock master class, Boogiezone, Funkanometry company class and Sockhop workshop, and many other classes involving various dance studios around the country. Keone also teaches every week at Studio 429, Culture Shock Dance Center, and Danceology located in different areas of San Diego County. Currently dancing with Choreo Cookies(Fusion and Body Rock '08 champions) and directing Future Shock San Diego, Keone, at the age of 20, hopes to inspire others with the talent that God has blessed him with. The idea stuck with him and in January 2007, Emmett brought Choreo Cookies into the competitive dance scene. Since then. Choreo Cookies has been fortunate enough to compete in the major competitions such as Prelude, Vibe, Fusion, Ultimate Brawl, World of Dance, and Body Rock. Aside from being the director of Choreo Cookies, Emmett is also directing a junior team called Breakthough and has been there director since 2004. Marty has also quickly become one of the most sought-after choreographers working today. Born in Dallas , Texas , Marty began breaking at the age of eight. By the age of sixteen, Marty began freestyling with his friends and they would sneak into clubs for an opportunity to freestyle as well as watch. Participation in talent shows soon followed and it was at this point that Marty first realized he had the gift of dance.Choreographing routines and teaching them to his friends progressed into teaching at nearby studios. There, he was able to tune his craft and become one of the most popular teachers in Dallas. In June of 1999, Marty came to Los Angeles with $1,200 in his pocket and plans to only stay for two months. Needless to say, he hasn’t left. Marty spent the next year-and-a-half as a co-choreographer on Janet Jackson’s “All For You” World Tour, which is aired as an HBO special. Marty then moved on to choreograph Pink’s “Get The Party Started” music video and N’SYNC’s “Girlfriend” music video. Most recently, Marty directed and choreographed N’SYNC’s “Celebrity 2002 Tour” as well as their performance at the 2002 Grammy Awards. Marty took a brief break from music videos to choreograph the Disney feature film, “The Lizzie McGuire Movie,” which starred Hilary Duff. Marty recently served as artistic director and choreographer for Justin Timberlake’s “Justified” World Tour.He assisted Justin in launching his solo career by choreographing all of his new music videos, including “Like I Love You,” “Cry Me A River,” “Rock Your Body,” and “Senorita.” Marty also staged a show-stopping live performance at last year’s MTV Video Music Awards. MEET LANDO WILKINS Lando Wilkins continues to prevail being a student of life and dance thru the work God. He was born on February 13, 1983, in San Diego, California. His feelings for dance started at around age 7, and took movement more seriously at age 13. After coming from the world of dance competitions in 1999, Landizee soon met a good friend and mental mentor Kevin Brewer in 2003. From there, the meaning of musicality and dance took a twist for the better. It lead him to the Super Galactic Beat Manipulators in 2006 where he met two more fellow brothers in christ, Ben Chung and KJ Gonzales, and from there another twist of fate occurred. During the end of 2006, Gary Kendall encouraged Lando to start a goal to eliminate the process of auditions and just dance for a committed show. Having known dancers and choreographers share the stage with people who look up them and want to learn. That goal goes by the name of Boxcutterz. Using physical methods and mental analogies, he likes to see students break their mental blocks for learning new discoveries in dance. Present day, Lando is now a known choreographer for wherever travel leads him. He has traveled for the passion of teaching to Brazil, Germany, Norway, Switzerland, Taiwan, Japan, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Russia, Canada, Mexico, and various domestic states.
